Problem faced by the Hospital:
Data of various departments was managed locally at the department level in hardcopies; this resulted in huge amount of paper work and also the problem of storing and retrieving the same. Also the entire process right from reception, admission, accounts, HR functions, appointment scheduling of doctors, operation theaters scheduling, stores and stock management was done manually, this sometimes resulted in overlapping, reports not being available on time and huge delay in retrieving of old data as it had to be done manually.
Infrastructure components implemented:
IBM i- series server and IBM N- series storage
Solution offered: HRMS solution (developed by Napier Systems) on IBM I series platform.
I-series was proposed because of the various functional and management features it has. It is a one box solution which comes with its own operating system, database etc, and so the customer need not go to different vendors for all this and try to integrate them. In addition to the above we also proposed a NAS solution (IBM N-series) for the customer to store and access all their X-ray¹s and related lab reports. Now all that the doctors or the technicians have to do is to go to the browser and access the NAS storage to view the data they want to as per the patient id created.
